Original Dedication

The Mesa Laboratory was officially dedicated on May 10th, 1967. The dedication exercises included music from the University of Colorado Brass Choir, speeches by I.M. Pei, Walter Orr Roberts, Dr. Leland Haworth of the National Science Foundation, Dr. Philip Handler of the National Science Board, former UCAR Chairman Dr. Henry Houghton, Colorado Governor John Love, and Senator Gordon Allott. A dedication luncheon featured Boulder Mayor Robert Knecht, as well as Dr. Horace Byers and Dr. Richard Kassander, both of whom served on the UCAR Board of Trustees.
