Instruments from the NCAR Archives featured in exhibit at Wings over the Rockies Air and Space Museum

The variable width slit jet impactor, developed at NCAR for Project DUSTORM in the the 1970s, is one of the instruments featured in the Stories from Colorado Skies exhibit at Wings over the Rockies Air and Space Museum in Denver. The exhibit highlights important aspects of Colorado's aviation history including scientific research and Flight for Life. Learn more about the exhibit here.

A farmer and his son, residents of rural Missouri, collected hailstones in the spring of 1975 for Project Dustorm, a collaborative project to examine thunderstorms and hail formation.
