The Research Applications Laboratory (RAL) Records collection is now available for research in the Archives! The collection consists of photographs, audiovisual material, reports, correspondence, and research materials relating to RAL's work in the areas of aviation safety, cloud seeding, climate change adaptation, as well as many others. The complete inventory and description is available here. A small sample of presentations and videos are available in the digital collection in OpenSky. To make an appointment to view the collection, please contact the archivist at archives@ucar.edu.

The Research Applications Laboratory has grown from a small research and development program (Research Applications Program as it was then known) at NCAR in the early 1980s to its current status as an NCAR laboratory with six divisions focused on specific applications areas.

The RAL collection was processed with support from the American Institute of Physics, Center for History of Physics.
